Come find out why women are dressing up in white bonnets and red dresses at protests across the country! The Union book group will be diving into Margaret Atwood’s novel The Handmaid’s Tale, as well as Season 1 of the recent Hulu adaptation; feel free to engage with one or both versions before coming. We will explore how and why this dystopic tale has recently become such a cultural flashpoint, looking at such themes as totalitarianism, religious fundamentalism, racial representation and of course feminism.
